Inside Kerry's All-Ireland final matchday routine

Here's your weekly dose of Four-Minute-Friday, a weekly snapshot of what I’m consuming, coaching or watching

The 48 hours before the biggest game of the year - mapped out with military precision.

Here's how Paul Murphy described (via the Irish Examiner) Kerry's All-Ireland final routine in the build-up to the win over Donegal:

Saturday

Depart from Killarney: Bus to Limerick to catch the train to Dublin

On the train: Players pass the time playing cards

Base: Team stays at a hotel in Dunboyne

Evening session: Light group mobility followed by a stroll into the town

Team Room: Games, banter - a Flight Radar game is a favourite of Murphy's

9:30pm - Final meal: Pancakes are a regular on the menu the night before a big game

Sunday

Late Breakfast: Cold and hot options available - Murphy goes with muesli, bagel, scrambled eggs and beans.

Some players take supplements. Murphy has a scoop of collagen

Short tactical meeting: Cian O’Neill shows clips and emphasises a few key points

Coffee stroll: Players take casual walk into town for a coffee

Players meeting: Shane Ryan, Seanie O’Shea, Paudie Clifford, David Clifford and Gavin White all speak

Pre-match meal: Final fuel-up.

Analysis briefing: Analyst highlights key KPIs.

Jack’s address: A short speech before they depart (non-tactical)

Departure: Onto the bus for Croke Park

Changing room: Above each player’s spot, the kitman has placed a photos of themselves with family wearing Kerry jerseys

Pre-warm-up: Players either get rubs or head out for a light walk on the pitch

Stretching & activation work

Warm-up: The call comes and then jog onto the Croke Park turf for the warm-up.
